Jen Michalski lives in Baltimore, Maryland. She graduated from St. Mary’s College of Maryland with a BA in English in 1994 and received her MS in Professional Writing from Towson University in 1999. She was voted one of the best authors in Maryland by CBS News.

Her fiction has appeared or is forthcoming in more than 80 publications, including McSweeney’s, failbetter, storySouth, The Baltimore Review, The Urbanite, Baltimore Magazine, 42 opus, Hobart, The Summerset Review, Gargoyle, wigleaf, The Potomac Review, PANK, Smokelong Quarterly, and others. Her first collection of short stories, Close Encounters, is available from So New Media, and her second is forthcoming from Dzanc Books. Her first-place novella, May-September, was published in the 2010 Press 53 Open Awards Anthology. She is the editor of City Sages: Baltimore (CityLit Press, 2010), the editor in chief of the literary journal jmww, and co-host of the 510 Reading Series.
